The main inspiration of this work is the extreme sense of community I witnessed among the people of Nova Scotia, my home province, in light of recent disasters. Being away from home and experiencing this as an outsider gave me a new perspective of my home, and made me appreciate it in a way I never have before.

Acting as a reflection of the community members gathering to rebuild both physically and mentally, the collection highlights key local personas as they unite to protect the land and culture from impending disasters.

. . .

Each persona takes unique form, being guided by questions of uniform, their function or work, ergonomics, and material culture.

Feeling deeply inspired by the people of Nova Scotia, I found myself wanting to investigate more into the history of the province. As a result of the primary and secondary research, I learned a great amount about it's cultural development, from the arts, to sports, to key industries that shaped not only the province, but also me in a sense as well.
